Quilters do it free-motion

I have been sewing with Jengy for a little while, and learning all sorts of stuff, and wanted to try out quilting. It definitely appeals to me using the arts and crafty side of my brain in tandem with the precise-measurements, and pattern making graph paper side.

Quilts! After a couple try-outs with some smallish pieces of fabrics (pot holder, makeup bags, backgammon "board") I was hooked and determined to make a quilt.

Of course this involved reading 5,000 quilting blogs and sites. Old ladies still seem to reign supreme in this domain, but there are some pretty fun, cool sites out there too:

ANYHOW, back to me and my first quilt-in-progress. Later I will figure out how to properly take photos of these.

I'm having a ton of fun with these and cant wait to finish them up! Not sure if I will attempt another pixel-by-pixel quilt as hole bejeebus, that's over 200 little squares per mushroom! Was thinking about doing the backing as a fun mario-cloud style, but I am getting antsy to have my finished product so... we shall see!

Yay quilts rule!

  2. I’m very happy to read this. This is the kind of details that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this ( golofootball.blogspot.com ) best doc.
