Anne's Birthday Quilt

This was the first "large" thing I totally completed, a nice little lap quilt for my momma's bday. This was fun because the large pattern didn't some out until I started laying out the squares. So fortuitous to have picked these values!

Boogs and Crooks

About to brain dump a couple projects, and be better about updating, but first, JENGY I LOVE YOUR PIC OF BOOG KNIGHT. So in honor of these punks, I give you blurry exhibit A:
Onto the sewing!!!

dig-n-rig cross stitch

Here's something for Kirk. Started off as a test but took so long that I'd like to frame it. Ran out of space because I didn't plan it out from the start and used scrap aiden. Still fun! Ah but it hurts my hands after too long...!

Felt!

1st Attempt

2nd Attempt--With Creativity Added!
I love it!

Felt rocks!

I started felting off by beginning with the 1st felty owl, which was based on a pattern.

Then, with Jesse's help, I was inspired to deviate from the pattern and make something more original. I like the result a lot.

Anyway, felting is a lot of fun. It's much faster to make things as opposed to dresses. And learning hand sewing techniques is a lot of fun. It's all very relaxing.

Quilters do it free-motion

I have been sewing with Jengy for a little while, and learning all sorts of stuff, and wanted to try out quilting. It definitely appeals to me using the arts and crafty side of my brain in tandem with the precise-measurements, and pattern making graph paper side.

Quilts! After a couple try-outs with some smallish pieces of fabrics (pot holder, makeup bags, backgammon "board") I was hooked and determined to make a quilt.

Of course this involved reading 5,000 quilting blogs and sites. Old ladies still seem to reign supreme in this domain, but there are some pretty fun, cool sites out there too:

ANYHOW, back to me and my first quilt-in-progress. Later I will figure out how to properly take photos of these.

I'm having a ton of fun with these and cant wait to finish them up! Not sure if I will attempt another pixel-by-pixel quilt as hole bejeebus, that's over 200 little squares per mushroom! Was thinking about doing the backing as a fun mario-cloud style, but I am getting antsy to have my finished product so... we shall see!

Yay quilts rule!

New Stuff

Made some bookends for my buttload of books, as well as a Remote Caddy! The caddy came out kinda ghetto, but shit, it works! Score bitches!

The black one was some sort of shelf bracket from Value Village and the white bookend is a light decoration minus the bulb, painted white with some paper added on top. Whoo!

Here's what it used to look like:
